“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
No scripture is more fitting on this occasion than this, as we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives fighting for our country. I can’t help but remember members of my family who served this great nation. From my husband’s ancestor who fought in the American Revolution to my immigrant ancestors who from their arrival have had a member from each generation serve in the US Army, we have been blessed not to have lost any family members to war. Childhood obesity is on the rise and creating a healthy lifestyle for your family is so important. Unfortunately, fast food has become common place for many families. Couple that with a less active lifestyle (mainly due to tv, computers, and video games!), and we have a recipe for disaster. My family is no different. We were active, but with my husband working almost 12 hours a day and health issues for me, we have let things slide.
As the saying goes, what one generation does in moderation, the next will do in excess. This was true of the Israelites as evil increased with each generation. This is true of health and fitness among our families today. Show your kids that fitness is important by creating a family exercise routine. Let [...]
When I decided to homeschool, my very first step was to determine how to lay a firm foundation. This foundation is what everything else will build upon, so it is important to be sure it is firm.

Vegetable gardening has many benefits. It’s fun, it’s good exercise in fresh air, and (not least) it provides a tasty and healthy food. Growing a vegetable garden with your family can provide many spiritual insights as well. Sharing these insights with your children is a fabulous and is natural way to introduce children to spiritual truths. It can also be a non-threatening way to talk to your tweens and teens, if it is done casually. And just like gardening, it does require effort.
“That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style; That our barns may be full, Supplying all kinds of produce…”
Ps. 144:12-13a
Planning your vegetable garden is key. It’s rare that a bountiful harvest can [...]
No doubt about it, if you homeschool you will encounter your share of skeptics. Some people believe homeschooling will make it harder for your kids to be successful. Hmm….it seems to me that most “successful” people throughout history, that have been homeschooled. I mean, considering that widespread and mandatory schooling is something from the recent past. Let’s dispel that myth once and for all.
What Is Shavuot And Why You Should Care
“From the day after the Sabbath—the day you bring the bundle of grain to be lifted up as a special offering—count off seven full weeks. Keep counting until the day after the seventh Sabbath, fifty days later. Then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. From wherever you live, bring two loaves of bread to be lifted up before the Lord as a special offering. Make these loaves from four quarts of choice flour, and bake them with yeast. They will be an offering to the Lord from the first of your crops.” Leviticus 23:15-17
Shavuot, otherwise known as the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost, will be celebrated next week.
There is some disagreement as to which exact day to celebrate it. [...]

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecc. 4:9-12
Another way to make prayer a useful tool in your Christian home business is to secure for yourself and your business a prayer team. Usually, there are many prayer groups for moms, men, and youth. The prayer team I’m talking about is a group of people- [...]
